Christchurch???s 150th Birthday Bash
Category: City Life

Today Christchurch celebrated its 150th birthday with a party in the Square. Despite all the moans about the problems of the square, on days like today it really works. Full of people, lots of free entertainment, places to sit and eat and a glorious Canterbury winter’s day (which we have not had enough of this year).
The trees all round the Four Avenues were dressed with red and black ribbons and the Cathedral came to the party with its streamers.
We had a great time, but left before the Tram Jam, an attempt to get 150 people squashed in a tram. I hear they succeeded!
