It is a mixture of personal anecdotes, observations, skites about my son, Thomas and sometimes some things vaguely intelligent. For much more intelligent comments on education, social software and the like check out the blogs of my colleagues at www.core-ed.net

Mothers’ Day

mothers day.jpg Today is Mothers’ Day in New Zealand ( we follow the American rather than the British calendar for this, and it has taken me years to get my head round it not being in March).

Thomas got me a lovely card and a detective novel, although I must admit the sentiment was lost a bit on me when he work me up in what seemed like the middle of the night by jumping on our bed shouting “Happy Mothers’ Day”.

beach.jpgThis morning we went out for a lovely mountain bike ride, down to the beach and then through Bottle Lake Forest which is near where we live. Thomas is now able to do at least 20 kms at one time making our rides faster and longer than in the past, although we did a technically more challenging route through the forest with lots of steep uphill and downhills, which did tire him out a bit. mushroom.jpg We found lots of beautiful looking mushrooms as we rode through the forest, but assumed that they were all poisonous so did not stop and pick any.bottlelake.jpg

We got home and had a very relaxing spa to warm up tired legs and got inside just before a massive hailstorm hit. 10 minutes later the sky was blue again and it was like it had never happened.
