Youth Hostelling
Due to the scarcity of accommodation in Cardiff on match day, and the very high price of anything that was available for that night, I ended up reliving my past and resorted to the YHA near Brecon for the weekend.
After years of staying in hotels (admittedly some more dodgy than others) being back into an YHA dorm, with shared facilities somewhere down the corridor, was a shock to the system.
First impression was not great- the road was very dark and narrow, and the wet weather did not help, nor did the unlit road between the car park and the hostel (thank goodness I have the torch app on my iphone!). Anyway once we got in and settle it was all OK, and waking up to a sunny morning helped with the overall impression.
Admittedly the bunk bed was not the most comfortable I have ever slept on (but in fact it was more comfortable than the hotel bed I stayed in last night), but the room was warm, the people friendly, the shower hot and the breakfast hearty (and good value).
It was lovely being back in that part of the country, but a shame that the weather could not have been better to give Derek a better understanding of why I love the area.
