My diary of work, play and other important matters

The week that was

Whew! Where did it go?

Today Ian and I finally got our blog for the TTA research project closer to how we want it to look, thanks to Tom over the other side of the world. Ian and I also sent off an update to the TTA, which feels good-we’ve done more work than we thought!

Much of my week has been taken up with either marking, or stressing about marking, or planning to do marking and then getting distracted. Working with Ken always shows me up as he has everything marked and triple marked and in various spreadsheets before I’ve even finished logging on to the profiling tool. We have also finished our second marking in preparation for the face to face meeting next week.

I also began my literature review for my masters assignment, and ended up writing about 10 pages for three books, while at my friends’ house for dinner-my flatmates already think my collegues and I are weirdos for always having our laptops in front of us, and now my friends will also think I’m losing it!

The other main activity, which runs through every week has been checking through researcher’s work towards the current module, at the moment being their action enquiry projects. And of course reading the conferences that make up Ultraversity’s online community, always in admiration of how quickly the researchers have created a buzzing and supportive community. I still spend a lot of time ‘reflecting’ on how I facilitate those places-as we all do.

I’ve also been chasing up details about NSCL’s Certificate of School Business Management, which has proved a whole lot harder than I originally thought. I thought it would be a simple matter to find out the validating body and how many credits at level one it was worth. Ha ha! I’m still trying though!

And of course all the little things that make working at Ultralab so much fun-people walking by and laughing at my effigy of Stephen, stopping to chat about what people are doing, being teased my Maureen, and drinking too much tea.

Ah it’s a good life!

  1. As part of the first cohort for Ultraversity I am deeply involved with my action enquiry assignment. I found your web site and began to read. It’s great to see things from the other side as it were. Whilst we’re working hard I think we forget that you too are hard at it as well.

Action enquiry not going too bad at the mo. I like it when I start to stitch things together and start to see some light at the end of the tunnel.

Will keep a look out for this web site.

    Speak to you soon.

    Regards

    Maggie
