My diary of work, play and other important matters

Saturday Afternoon

February 12th, 2005 by gina.revill

Last time I made a blog entry about Saturday afternoon, I was sitting in a sun-drenched room surrounded by friends having interesting conversations, while I played around with my laptop.

Today, I’m sitting upstairs working while my friends are downstairs. (and it’s raining outside :-)

It’s a mark of how unbalanced I feel my life has become in the last few months. I love my job, and I consider myself privileged to be where I am, but I promised myself in the hard hours of my long illness that I would never allow myself to forget what was most important in life for me- health, friends, family, fun, good food, new challenges and peace.

My job is important to me-and sometimes in the good times I don’t feel like I’m working at all, because I feel a passion for what I’m doing. But, I’ve let myself get too stressed in recent times and my new goal is to still give my whole commitment, but perhaps to set better priorities.

Ah but it’s a good life…..I can’t complain. And I’m the only one who can set things right. Starting tomorrow :-)

  1. Chin up. As Annie would say - “The sun’ll come out tomorrow ..” Have a break and relax - no one ever said “I wish I’d spent more time at work” on their death bed - not that I’m implying that you are on yours - think I’d better stop right now!

There’ll probably be another musketeer along in a minute!

  2. Wahoooo…. the first time I’ve visited your blog in ages and someone’s quoting Annie!

    It’s a hard-knock life for us!

I’m waiting for the next chapter in the GUMBOOT saga… where will they go next? Maybe a trip overseas?

  4. The gumboots are in the wings awaiting their mooment of glory….

Thanks Eve - didn’t mean to sound depressed - in fact I meant it to sound positive - that I can see the imbalance and know it’s in my power to redress it. The other musketeers are obviously having a break from work which is what they should be doing :-)

  5. Hey Babe, Happy Valentines and here’s a work-life balance solution for you!
I’ve joined the Jazz course with Wytze, and our group has guitar, bass, drums, clarinet, sax and vocalist - but no keyboards! So come on, come and be our dominant seventh…
