Mariam Kramer
May 24th, 2005 by gina.revillCopped Hall, a gorgeous crumbling Georgian mansion in Essex hosts muscial events sometimes. I was lucky enough to hear Miriam Kramer play on Saturday night. The room was a draughty space half in ruins with bricks exposed seating about 100. Perfect acoustics and atmosphere.
I couldn’t possibly describe it without descending into cliche. I defy anyone to listen to the way she plays Nigun from the Baal Shem by Bloch without something shifting inside yourself. I’m listening to the CD now and even the cat is acting strange ![]()
She is marvellous. So is the mansion. The combination was stunning.
