This is one of the simplest user-managed sites I have seen. Personalise the content of your home-page on your browser with your del.icio.us site, flickr page, Gmail, etc, etc, etc.
The way Web2.0 is heading! manage the push and pull of your own content and get it all to come to you in one easy package. Bring all your aps and tools into one place.

Alexander Hayes has an interesting blog and this is the title of his latest entry. He (and I!) are being deliberately provocative but have a read and see what you think ….

What a morning … you don’t realize how dependent you get on this technology! I wasn’t able to connect to the internet with either browser I use or send any mail, but could download mail - odd. iChat wouldn’t work either and I had fluctuating strength in my wireless.
On the phone to our tech Dave. Plugged directly into the router everything was fine …. mmmm …. airport problem? On the phone and then down to Magnum Mac here in Dunedin. Ricki who knows way too much about all this obscure sort of thing straight away asks what version of the firmware I’m running. So I hand over the box!
Turns out that the latest version of the airport firmware is quite unstable for some set-ups. So a 10min job for him to ‘downgrade’ it and I’m away again.
(I am now running v5.5.1 of the base-station software - in utilities>airport admin> about (with the base-station selected in the menu))
Way too much information really, and particularly obscure I know but it may help someone …..)
The joys of life in tech … :-)

I have had to re-build my laptop in the last wee while - yes macs do die, and in the most spectacular fashion! Just came across this blog entry about a comprehensive back-up solution this person follows. Specifically about Macs but still worth looking at for the things that have been included!

This site is incredible - with the wealth of information it has about neurology, psychology, and the implications for education.
They have a bi-weekly e-zene that is worth subscribing to as well.

In NZ we have very little comprehension in most schools of what real broadband speed looks like. At the recent Regional Development Meeting we saw a demonstration of this illustration of what true broadband speeds can do.
There are schools in pilot programmes like the Nelson Loop and having been in Brightwater School last term and “having a play” it is truly incredible. File size NO LONGER MATTERS.
Check out this wee demo - sorry PC only. If anyone knows of a mac equivalent please let me know!

I always wondered how they did this ….
check out Stephen Heppel’s blog

As he says ….”A nice little web service brought to us from the Frappr team called slide.com This online album tool enables easy upload (irritatingly only one at a time), drag and drop re-ordering, a choice of transitions to create a web slide show. Viewers get to chose the speed and there is also a downloadable application to make the creation of slide shows quicker.
Lots of educational possibilities with this one…..”

Great to showcase the work being done in a class or school. Creating one would be a good visual language activity …..
