virtual visiting speaker
Here’s an idea for a staff meeting. You can’t afford to invite US educator Andy Carvin to visit your school to talk about the history of online communities and recent developments in participatory media, including blogging, podcasting, videoblogging and tagging, BUT you can download the powerpoint and accompanying podcast of the presentation he gave on this topic at the recent Scottish Learning Festival in Glasgow.
Andy has made them available on his blog Andy Carvin’s Waste of Bandwidth, just send him an email if you use them, with some feedback.

Hi Jedd,
I tried to download your podcast via the 1 click subscribe button (which is an awesome idea!). I found that the button points to pcast://feeds.feedburner.com/mediaction - which isn’t working. You might wanna try switching the link to http://www.core-ed.net/jeddarchives/index.xml rather than an index.rdf or atom.xml feed…

Thanks Mu, I have changed things a couple of times for various reasons and didn’t realise that the .rdf didnt work.
kia ora bro, great idea to bring people in via audio (or video) conference. maybe we could do this for core workers once a month maybe.
