podcaster conference

Last weekend saw the first (free) podcasting conference, based in North Carolina I think, but extensively available on the web, with much material on the podcon wiki. As well as the contributions to the conference blog and wiki, a number of the participants were blogging and producing their own podcasts during the day. The whole conference event and the associated reporting is an interesting mix of new media; blogging, wiki, podcasting, tagging, flickr, technorati. As the podcon blog says “Check out what people are blogging about via the Technorati tag PodcasterCon2006, see what pictures they took at Flickr - tag PodcasterCon2006, read even more blog posts via Google??s Blog Search, and of course check out the PodCon wiki for all the notes”.

Of particular interest, the session run by David Warlick ( Landmard project) was focused on podcasting in education. Activity was recorded on a wiki page where you will find 6 questions the attendees came up with related to educational applications for podcasting, and their workshop responses. Questions include “What are the fundamentals that make podcasting useful to teachers & Students?, What are logistical & technical barriers? and What problems does podcast solve for teachers & learners?”…
