videoegg

VideoEgg is a web-based publishing service that allows users to capture video content from virtually any device and format and publish it to the web. Having tried it (on my win XP computer - it doesnt support mac based firefox yet), I found it to be a very easy way to get video content online. Features include (quote)

  • “Supports 100s of devices: digital cameras, DVcams, webcams and file formats
  • Drag and drop movie upload and simple video editing
  • One-click publishing to Blogger, Typepad, eBay and other”
  • This is a way of getting around the complicated process of posting video, often requiring a highly technical understanding of formats, encoders, players and servers. VideoEgg Publisher “simplifies the difficult video encoding and posting process, allowing users to capture video directly into a website from camcorders, Web cams, and mobile phones. It also accepts video files via a simple drag-and-drop interface. Before movies are encoded and posted, users can perform basic edits with the Publisher??s simple editing tools.”

Videos are immediately available for viewing online through the flash-based VideoEgg player which doesn’t require external players like Windows Media and QuickTime.

Having played with this more, I am really impressed with the simplicity and ease of the whole process, as well as the uncluttered site that grows as you add video material to your library. Works on the mac in safari, so that’s nice too. Will try adding vid to blog and see what happens.
