feed readers rated

A recent post at ,TechCrunch, a blog that profiles and reviews new web 2.0 products and companies, is a review of nine web-based feed readers.

A feed reader or aggregator is a software application or service that collects syndicated content from a range of sources and provides a single consolidated view. Examples are bloglines and google reader. There are a number of different types of feed readers: web-based, desktop, and Outlook based. The TechCrunch review concentrates solely on free web-based feed readers. It’s definitely worth a read - syndication is “undoubtedly the heartbeat of the web 2.0 movement’, and all of these readers are experiencing rapid uptake as web users move towards content control; news, podcasts and feeds being “pulled” to the subscriber.

If you’re really interested in learning about these, the most recent TalkCrunch podcast, from TechCrunch’s Michael Arrington also deals with feed readers.
