sketchup - free 3D software

Google has recently released their free Sketchup software. Google describe sketchup as “an easy-to-learn 3D modeling program that enables you to explore the world in 3D.” In playing with sketchup I could see lots of potential for classroom application, although I couldnt manage anything like the examples provided on the site …

Interesting features include being able to import a wide range of 2D and 3D images, and being able to place your 3D design into Google Earth.
