using wikis in education
From the WWWEDU list in the last few days comes some examples of ways people are using wikis in teaching and learning.
First some examples of primary students writing at Bellaire school in Geelong, Australia, along with The adventures of Terry, an inventive story from year 3/4 students at the same school.
Next, from grade 5 students in Canada; some collaborative work about inventors and inventions.
Lastly some senior secondary examples; Applied Maths, calculus, and more calculus.
The ICT PD national facilitator team have experimented with both peanut butter wikis, with our regional meeting; social software site, as well as wikispaces. Our choice is the wikispaces wiki as education organisations can access the ad-free version, and the site is clear and uncluttered, with no knowledge of html/tags required by the user.

With more than 50 to choose from, it can be helpful to visit sites offering comparisons but perhaps the best indicator of what to use is to spot what others are using.
