A new wiki - WetPaint, joins jotspot, pbwiki and wika in this developing area of collaborative, mass-editable wiki environments. Wetpaint has more features - taggable pages, a range of templates, privacy controls, and the ability to lockdown individual pages, although contextual advertising appears on all pages. As these friendlier, free and better featured wikis are developed it seems likely that they will gain popularity, particularly for those wanting more collaborative communication environments than is offered by the blog or social networking sites.
