weather bonk
Weather bonk is a mashup that lets you view real time weather information on a map.

The mashup combines google earth/google maps, with data from a combination of personal weather stations, national weather services and webcams. Once over NZ, (you can search a city location) you can zoom in using satellite view, go to one of the flagged webcams for a recent image, read detailed data from local weather centres, or click on an area to read a 7 day forecast. Accuracy of these may be as variable as the winds in the Wairarapa, as they are US weather.com sourced, which means you get “70% chance of precipitation” and temperature in F, rather than Celsius. For students there is historical data available, and comparisons across countries are easily done.

But the point of blogging this is that it is a good example of how a mashup combines several web-based services and results in a richer range of information that incorporates user customization. Read more about them here >>
