TakingITGlobal (http://takingitglobal.org) is an online social network and hub for collaborative projects. It provides in-depth content on a range of issues and tools for educators to facilitate rich, interactive learning experiences.
The stated mission for TakingITGlobal is to provide opportunities for learning, capacity-building, cross-cultural awareness, and self-development through the use of information and communication technologies. The overall aim of the site is for youth everywhere to be actively inspired, informed and actively involved in shaping our world.
There is a new initiative from the TakingItGlobal team, the Ministry of Education and CORE Education that is designed to support the introduction of TakingItGlobal tools into secondary schools and Year 7 and 8 classrooms. Through this initiative, schools can take up the opportunity to work with TakingITGlobal project co-ordinator, Suzie Vesper, to make the best use of the TakingITGlobal tools. Information about this project will be available from the CORE Education stand during the conference or during the 40 minute taster session during Breakout Six (this is now full).
