baseline surveys and first visits

March 3rd, 2007 by jedd.bartlett

During this first week we have visited each of the five cluster schools, explained the programme, and asked for teacher interest in taking part. Despite the need for instant decisions and committment, the response in all schools has been very positive, with the selection of the school facilitator and 5 mentor teachers happening during the visit. The school facilitator will be expected to spend 60 -90 minutes a day supporting the mentor teachers, who in turn will be expected to undertake an “ICT challenge” in a curriculum area of their choice.

There will be a programme of professional learning in each school to support this, and a heavy reliance on the online communit,y www.kperakcluster.net, a moodle site currently being developed around the needs of the teachers. Teachers at each of the schools took time to complete a survey which will provide some of the information we need to complete the next stage - designing the ICT challenges.

February 27th, 2007 by jedd.bartlett

This week the team from iNZed arrived in Ipoh, the capital of the State of Perak and began meetings with Malaysian education officials and the schools in the KPerak eLearning cluster. The Malaysian term 1 ends on March 9th, so many meetings and discussions will have to be completed in the next two weeks. Our aim is to complete the selection and initial training of the facilitators and selected teachers who will be involved in this pilot programme.
