Ulearn has always prided itself on encouraging young people to participate in conferences in “meaningful ways”.

This year eTime will again provide support for the Student Showcase sessions in breakout 2 and 3 on Wednesday in the Town Hall Cambridge Room . These are two highly interactive breakouts where conference attendees have the opportunity to talk directly with digital learners – students from a number of Canterbury primary schools who are supported in their learning by eTime will be demonstrating, sharing and answering questions about their ICT supported learning experiences.

We will also have a large group of students in the Conference media team. This group will be interviewing delegates, filming keynote and spotlight presenters and developing newsletters, podcasts, and vodcasts. Many of these students come back year after year.

This year we also have many student presenters providing their “Life on the other side” view.

Christ’s College and St Margarets students also support presenters acting as hosts and tech crew for the 400 + workshops.

Altogether these students are actively involved in all areas of Ulearn.

Sounds brilliant, Jane. Thx for the mention as well.

Oh how fantastic! Can’t wait to see them, my Hannah would fit right in. Having children there ensures we are mindful about our purpose for teaching and learning, thinking and applying what we soak up at Ulearn to our tamariki’s lives.
I am sure they will also solve any of our grown up ICT meltdowns!

I am often asked what CORE stands for? I reply “The centre of the universe”, its true! I looked it up in wikipedia so it must be…. We are going to feel like we are in earth’s core, the heart of what’s happening… see you at ULearn soon!

There will be some students from Southwell School on the Toshiba stand and helping teachers Tim Bullock and Nicola Hickey. They are presenting on what they have learnt through the tablet challenge classroom experience. Tim and Nicola have initiated this which is a great way to bring student voice and the classroom directly into the conference experience. Erin Freeman (Fairfield Intermediate) has worked with her class remotely in this way also. I am using student voice in video reflections but realtime presence is another step up. R E S P E C T.
